Open Call for Immersive Workshop in Kraków and Oświęcim

Human Constanta
28 March 2024

n-ost (Germany) together with Fundacja Autonomia (Poland) and Human Constanta (Belarus) are pleased to announce the start of the application process for our first joint event within the project “History Unit: Reframing Queer Narratives in Media”.

The program connects media professionals and queer activists. With this immersive workshop, we want to research NS-persecution of homosexual and transgender people. We want to draw meaningful parallels between historical oppression of LGBTQ+ individuals and the present-day challenges faced by queer communities in the project countries. This educational program includes a thematic tour to the memorial site of Auschwitz-Birkenau with insight in historic sources, lectures and discussions with activists and researchers, city tours, cultural events, networking, as well as practical working phases.

All participants of the program will have the opportunity to apply for a follow up stipendium to create cross-border journalistic content. More information will be provided during the program.

Who can apply?

We want to address media professionals as well as queer activists with experience in content creation from the following countries: Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Germany (regardless of the current place of residence). We cannot assist with any visa procedures.

How to apply?

Please, complete the questionnaire by 14 April, 2024, 23:59 (CET time). The application should be in English, except for the motivational part, for which you can choose any project language of your choice (Belarusian, German, Polish, Ukrainian, English). The selected participants will be informed not later than 30 April, 2024.
